Hi maggyhunter,

Thank you for posting your concern here and welcome to Trend Micro Community!

Trend Micro Mobile Security on Android may consume a lot of battery if you have a lot of apps installed on your mobile device. TMMS is running in the background that scans your mobile device and check if all of your applications are safe.

If your android device version is 6.0 (Marshmallow), you may disable the Doze Mode for TMMS. Here's the detailed steps on how to turn it off:

Disabling Doze Mode for Mobile Security on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)

Kindly also provide us your mobile device brand and model so that we can check it further.

Please let us know if this helps.
Have a great day!

Can you explain what the difference is?  What are the effects of having doze mode enabled or not?

p.s.  I believe my battery is also draining faster since installing Mobile Security.

Hi lhf,

Thank you for posting a comment on this thread.

Doze provides a recurring maintenance window for apps to use the network and handle pending activities.
At the conclusion of each maintenance window, the system again enters Doze, suspending network access and deferring jobs, syncs, and alarms. Over time, the system schedules maintenance windows less and less frequently, helping to reduce battery consumption in cases of longer-term inactivity when the device is not connected to a charger.
As soon as the user wakes the device by moving it, turning on the screen, or connecting a charger, the system exits Doze and all apps return to normal activity.

Let me also inform that it is possible reason why the battery is being drained, is due to the app doing a real-time scan or updating, but, it will just perform the scan if you are doing something on your device like installing another app or downloading something on the mobile device. But this should not be case since Trend Micro Mobile Security actually has a feature to save your phone's battery life.

For the meantime, you may try to check Mobile Security battery optimization by doing the steps below:
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap on Battery.
3. Look for Trend Micro Mobile Security and tap Optimize.

You can also check the list and see how much the Trend Micro mobile app is consuming your phone resources. You can also identify there if the Trend Micro app is the one causing the issue.

Have a great day!
