Hi @wamlm and welcome to the community!

It is possible that your Trend Micro program has been deactivated after you updated your Windows PC.

Kindly restart the components of your Trend Micro program since you already have the latest version installed. Here is the link for the steps:

Disabling or enabling your Trend Micro Security software

We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day! :)

Thank you for the advice ... I have checked and all the components of my Trend Micro seem to be operating ... I can run scans and I am seeing real time Trend Micro activity ... I can tell you that if I go to explorer and want to "click" on a file to check for virus ... both Windows Defender and Trend Micro aer available clicks ... ... So .. ti appears Windows Defender and Trend MIcro can exist on the system at the same time ?

Thank you again for the suggestion..

Hi wamlm.

Most of the things must be off, but you can turn on periodic scanning.

Kind regards,
Tom

Not sure what you mean by "most of the things".  When I "click" on Trend Micro Maximum two screens come up.  One is inviting me to "Ransomware".  The second is a horizontal menu screem offering "Device"  "Privacy" "Data" and "Family"  This screen also offers a choice to SCAN and a Check Mark saying Protected"  If I "click" on Device it says Real Time Filtering and Web Filtering are ON.  Can you tell me what "most of the things" means/implies/?
Oh, and Task Manager lists both Windows Defender and Trend Micro routines.

Hello wamlm,

The Trend Micro program will turn off Windows Defender at default, it will only be turned on if the Trend Micro protection was disabled. That's how they work together.

Have you tried checking if you still have the program working? You can run a scan to further check if the Trend Micro program is still installed.

We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day! :)

I hope this helps.

Best regards.

Hi wamlm,

If you click on the Defender icon in the tray you should get a window like this:
Mine in Dutch but the symbols are the same.
Then the next window looks like this and you put here the scanning of Defender off.
Default should be off.

The next window should be like this:

Hope this helps,
If this is not the case, i should reinstall TM!

Kind regards,
Tom
