Hi miles.charlseworth!

Thank you for contacting us in the community.

Based from your concern, you have encountered a large number of coreServiceShell on your compuer. I would like to inform you that this is not because of your Folder Shield feature. This can happen possibly due to conflicting software, malware infection or remnants of your old Trend Micro program.

To resolve this issue, please visit the link below:

Slow pc performance due to high CPU or memory usage of CoreServiceShell.exe

We hope this helps. Should you have further concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Thank you and have a great day! :)

Thanks for your reply. I have read the suggested article. I do not believe the issue is malware as I have Trend Micro Maximum Security running, which is supposed to stop malware. I have run full scans and not found anything. Also, I do not think this is due to old versions of Trend Micro as the latest version was installed fresh. Probably the only possibility might be Windows Defender Periodic Scanning, but surely Trend Micro is designed to work alongside this. Maybe when the periodic scanning starts up it conflicts for a few minutes?
I have not stated that the computer is running slowly, I was just curious what all these Microsoft\Crypto\RSA versions of coreServiceShell were actually doing. I have not noticed them before.

Hello miles.charlesworth,

Thank you for updating us with your concern.

For you to know what Microsoft\Crypto\RSA  this folder is used to store certificate pair keys for the system and its users. If you’re going to delete the files inside this folder it would make them unusable after. And I suggest you to turn off the Windows Defender Periodic Scanning because it might be the one that is collecting the certificate from your browsers and other application that is installed on your computer. And also Windows Defender should not run alongside with Trend Micro because Windows defender should automatically turn off to give way for Trend Micro.

You may refer to the link below on how you can turn off the Windows Defender Periodic Scanning

Hope this would help.

Thank you and have a great day!

Thanks for your reply. I looks like the Crypto\RSA might be running during the periodic scanning. It is not causing a problem, so I will leave Windows Defender Periodic Scanning running. According to Microsoft, this is supposed to provide additional security on top of other anti-virus programs such as Trend Micro.

I am not concerned about security at the moment if you had read my message. I am concerned that the wrong email address has been loaded. I cannot  use my computer properly. The  password that was loaded this afternoon is not being accept ed either. It does appear  to be as simple as you say. I want my computer working as it it is supposed to.
You cannot load Microsoft onto it. It is a Mac Pro Book

Frilly, not sure what your replies have got to do with the original question I posted, which has now been answered. It seems as if there has been some sort of cross threading here.
