Welcome to the Home Users Community, frbestor,

Thank you so much for posting your concern and sorry for the trouble. It's possible that the Microsoft Critical Error message is a scam message and it's just a message that you receive to scare you while your PC is actually fine. You may have encountered this when clicking on advertisements or via pop-up ads on infectedwebsites so it's recommended that you enable the Trend Micro toolbar on your browsers or at least use a browser with a Trend Micro Toolbar.

To have that message closed, you can just open up the Task Manager by pressing on the CTRL + ALT + DEL keys. Choose the browser where that message is encountered and click on "End Task". After that, you can clear the browsing history on the affected browser (not recommended if you wish to contact support).

Fee free to contact our support team and have the URL of the scam message submitted to our Global Site Safety. Thank you!
