Is the latest version of TM incompatable with MalwareBites (free version).  I was forced to remove it before downloading today (12/30/18)?  If so, are you protecting me from malware now?

Hi lawgcabin

Welcome to TM Home users Community, a public site where volunteers try to help each-other , also there are TM Employees that can give answers.
It is a bad idea to put 2 AV programs with real-time scan on the same PC, you dont need MB at all, TM does that all.
Hope this helped you.

Kind regards,

Stop making that choice for me.  I keep Malwarebytes shut down, and keep Trend Micro up.  Once in a while, I shut down Trendmicro and fire up Malwarebytes, despite each program trying to uninstall the other.  I know better than to keep both running at the same time, but want the different cababilities of the programs.  TM isn't perfect, and neither is Malwarebytes.

Sorry to hear you experience, lawgcabin and frplett.

To answer your question, lawgcabin, yes. Malwarebytes is incompatible with Trend Micro.

Tom Emmelot is right. It is not advised to have 2 of them running at the same time as it will cause your computer performance issues. It can cause conflict between their features and as a result, both of them might not work accordingly and will cause bigger problems in the future.

I agree, frplett, that there is no perfect and bullet-proof AV protection and each has different capabilities. You can check this link to see what are the capabilities of Trend Micro protection to your computer: The main console of your Trend Micro Security software

You can check this link to know more about the Incompatible Software of Trend Micro:
"Incompatible Software Found" appears when installing Trend Micro Security software

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need more help.

I'm with frplett and lawgcabin - let me choose. Instead, this is due to either a bad marketing decision or terrible programming skills. I can run TM with Windows Defender ... I wonder why.

Many tech websites and knowledgeable techs recommend running an anti-malware product along side an AV product. (MB is not an AV product by their own admission.) You do your customers a disservice or worse, force them to be at risk to use your software.

As for me, if this is still an issue come renewal time I will not renew.

Hi David Nelson and welcome to the community!

According to Malwarebytes, antivirus and anti-malware mean the same thing as they both refer to software designed to detect, protect against, and remove malicious software from devices. You may refer on the link below for their article.

Windows Defender is a Microsoft's built-in antivirus protection. Built-in programs on computers are not suggested to be removed or uninstalled.

Regarding Windows Defender running with Trend Micro - when Trend Micro is installed in your computer, Windows Defender turns off automatically to avoid any conflict with Trend Micro. If Trend Micro turns off, Windows Defender turns on automatically to take part Trend Micro.

Let us know if you need further explanation.
