Since the most recent Trend Update, both right and left clicks on the icon bring up the menu. Neither bring up the Main Console.

Double click to open Trend main window. A single click (left or right) open the menu directly on tray.
This is a shortcut, not a bug.
Double left click: open the main console.
Single click, open the shortcut, for example to enable faster the mute mode.

Thanks Max!
The need to double click is new and is not helpful.
I preferred it the way it was before the update: single left click to open main console, single right click to get the menu.

Hello andrea.steurer,

The double click is nothing new since all Windows computers are that way so that they can run a program. If you do not want to double click an item to run or open it, you can change the setting on your computer. This is only an option if you want to run an item on a single click.

  1. Go to “Control Panel“.
  2. Select “Appearance and Personalization“.
  3. Choose “Specify single- or double-click to open“.
  4. In the click items as follows section, choose between “Single click to open an item” or “Double-click to open an item“.
I hope this helps clarify your concern.

Thank you and have a great day!

Hi Justine,
Good point! I vaguely remember doing just that when I moved to this laptop. Why would the update change this setting?
BTW, for Win7 the path is Control Panel -> Folder Options.
-Thanks for the clarification!

Oops! spoke too soon! This solution didn't work either!

Hi Y'all!

To be clear, I'm talking about the icon in the system tray (aka notification area) on Windows 7. All the other icons in this area offer options based on Microsoft guidelines (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dn742495(v=vs.85).aspx):

"Left single-click - Display whatever users most likely want to see"
and
"Right-click - Display the context menu, with the default command in bold."

Until the recent update, Trend acted in this way; not anymore; now, single left and right clicks in this area give the same menu. :(

- Any more ideas?

Hello andrea.steurer,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the Community!

Also, thank you for letting us know about this issue that you have encountered. Apologies for whatever inconvenience this may have caused you.

By the way, thank you for your response Max Slo, we appreciate it.

Moving forward, to open the Trend Micro main console, kindly do a double-left-click on the Trend Micro icon on your desktop, or do a single-left-click on the Trend Micro icon found in the system tray. You can also do a single-right-click on the Trend Micro icon found in the system tray, which will provide you a list including an option to open the Trend Micro main console.

Should you have any other concern, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Hi Ivan! Thanks for the clarification. But...
The " single-left-click on the Trend Micro icon found in the system tray" is not working! As Max pointed out, a double click is required...even for the icon in the system tray.
Bummer.
Thanks anyway!
