Hi cdimond and welcome to our community!

Thank you for posting your concern here and let me help you with this.

I am sorry to hear that you are encountering issue with regards to one of the features of the Trend Micro program. But just to verify, may I know if you are referring to the Folder Shield of the Trend Micro program?

Basically, if the upgrade from the old version to the latest one was done automatically, the files or programs inside the folder shield must be retained .

With this, may I know how did you upgrade your software to the latest version of the Trend Micro program? Did you uninstall first the previous program before installing the new one? Also, have you run a remnant file remover tool for the complete removal of the application?

Moreover, provided below is the link that can guide you in setting up again your Folder Shield on your Trend Micro program:

Using the Folder Shield feature of Trend Micro Security

We will be waiting for your reply.

Thank you very much and have a great day!

Yes I meant the Folder Shield - I had seen the Ransom wear reference on the install. The upgrade was done automatically when I clicked on the upgrade suggestion that popped up.  I had a desktop folder I store everything in that was protected (you could  see this on the folder icon)  This is no longer there. Its fairly easy to redo  and i did that. I I note that there is no longer the protection icon on the folder which was a nice feature visually.  I'm sorry I had a knee jerk reaction to the upgrade not retaining this and sent a message when it wasn't a big deal. I miss the visual folder protection indication also.  Thanks
