Is TM a self-starter?

Have just installed TM on new PC. Do I need to "do" anything now, or is it working in the background to detect and stop the crap that people with a lot of imagination and very little ethical bearing seem to spend their entire lives creating?

Hi drtwh

You don't need to do anything. It work in the background, updating it self and protect your PC against malware.
You can do a manual scan from time to time if you want.

Hi drtwh

What I will do right after installation is to check for updates manually, because antivirus may have many updates that will be received after installation. Yes, it will do it automatically, but I prefer to do it manually. For me what I did after I installed Trend Micro Maximum Security 2017 is that I did a manual update check and yes it did find many updates and right after those updates got installed , Trend Micro Maximum Security 2017 automatically restarted itself.

So after that you don't have to manually check for updates, Trend Micro 2017 will do everything for you. By default, it checks for updates every 3 hours.

Hi ahsansJhja and Tom,

We appreciate your help in this community.

Hi drtwh,

Thank you for posting here in the community. They are right about how Trend Micro works. Just to add up, we also recommend if you can do full scan from time to time or a scheduled scan. You can refer to this page on types of scans and how to run it using your Trend Micro Security software

Please feel free to post here if you have any other concerns.
