Is there a way to make sure and/or create an exemption in Trend Micro for Mac to ignore Lima Technology (home cloud system)?

I've recently added a Lima Ultra to my Lima Original/Blue, and since then, my Lima Blue keeps showing as offline after about 1 day. I've reported this to Lima, and they've advised me to make an exception in my antivirus software for Lima. Just don't know if that is possible, and how to do it if it is possible...

Yes, indeed, they are right. Put the URL of that site on your exceptions in the Trend Micro list of "exceptions" and your security will not interfere with it.

Hi burstonj and woodartisan55,

Thank you for posting on our community!

Yes, woodartisan55 is correct. You may add the program to Trend Micro’s Exception List. You may refer below on how to do this. The previous link provided can be used if adding Lima Ultra to the Exception List did not solve your concern.

Let us know the result of this step. Have a great day!

Thanks for the above assistance.  I'm currently using version 7.0.1197 for Mac.  I'm sure this is so basic, but after going through my Trend Micro over and over and over... I cannot figure out how to access/open main console in order to get into settings/protection settings as outlined in https://esupport.trendmicro.com/en-us/home/pages/technical-support/1059964.aspx?_ga=1.243292293.1051...    What am I missing?  Does my version have this screen/set of options? If someone could help me with just getting to this point, I'm sure I would be able to progress this matter.  Many thanks to everyone out there with expertise.

I believe Trend Micro is still detecting the Lima application after it has been added to the exception list.  The link provided by woodartisan55 above seems to be for Windows.  I am running a Mac with Sierra.  Is there a link I can follow to try and and add the program to the WhiteList in Trend Micro?

Thanks Tom Emmelot for answering the inquiry.

Hello there burstonj !

For the inquiry that you have in opening the Trend Micro console, can we check if you have the Trend Micro Program installed on your computer? You can check that by checking the Applications folder of your Mac. There should be an icon of the Trend Micro. You can open the Trend Micro Console by doing a double click on it.

If you cannot see the Trend Micro icon on your Applications folder, you may need to reinstall the program back. You can refer to this link for the Free Download of the Installer file and the Installation guide.

Thanks for the input.  I definitely have it installed.  The screens look nothing like the support page instructions that were provided above however.

I've opened Trend Micro, gone into Preferences, and then on the Scan tab have selected Files Not Scanned - Edit the List...

From there, I've selected the Folders tab, and then pressed the + (add) icon and selected Lima from the items displayed.  On this screen, once selected, it displays as /Applications/Lima.app.

I am hoping this what is required.  Again, it doesn't look like the screens as illustrated in the support section for adding exemptions.  Is this what I need to do though?

Hello burstonj.

Yes. I think you have done it perfectly. Can you try doing a test if it will still be intercepted by the Trend Micro Program?

Also, thanks for your feedback with the Support article. We will request for it to be updated so it would have the same look with the latest version of the program.

Let us know if the solution works.

Hello @TomEmmelot. And thank you for answering the query.

Hi @Burstonj.

For you to add the Lima program to the exception list of the Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac, please do a spotlight search for the Trend Micro Diagnostic toolkit. Once you have the Diagnostic toolkit open click on "Exception" and click on the "+" button to add the Lima program to the exception list of the program. You can also click on this link for you to submit a file reclassification request so that our developers can analyze the file of the program and check if it poses any malicious behavior, if not they will add the program to the white-list network so that other Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac programs will not anymore detect and stop the program from running.

Submitting a File Reclassification request

Please let us know if you were able to add the Lima program to the exception list of the Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac.
