The detected version of the Intel(R) Management Engine firmware was considered vulnerable for INTEL-SA-00086.  My laptop is a Dell Lattitude E6420 with a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2520M CPU @250 GHz running Windows 7.
It has Intel(R) Management Engine version  SVN 0

Does Trend Micro protect against an external invasion at this level?

Hi mengelji,

Thank you for posting your concern here and welcome to the Trend Micro Home Users Community!

Regarding your concern, the Trend Micro program can protect your device once the malwares enter it via any medium. This includes this vulnerabilities that you have mention. Also, we suggest to keep your device and its drivers updated as manufacturers deploy fixes or patches for such vulnerabilities.

Please keep in mind as well that an attacker needs physical access to platform’s firmware flash to exploit vulnerabilities. That means there has to be a remote session or a physical contact on the device to exploit this vulnerability. We suggest to be very cautious on who will be accessing your device and also keep your system updated aside from the antivirus program updated.

We hope this answers your concern.

Thank you and have a great day!
