I'm curious as to how Malware was able to turn off Trend and Windows Defender. I thought Trend was supposed to protect from Malware.

Hello godsson14

Thank you for posting your concern here and welcome to Trend Micro community!

Your Trend Micro program runs on a real time basis as you use your computer but we need to consider the infections caused by thousands of new threats created every day.

New threats cannot be detected until we have gathered enough samples for analysis. Then we will include the fix through the updates. That is why your Trend Micro releases updates in every 3 hours so that your computer will receive the latest detection pattern.

There are several ways on how the computer gets infected with even though you have a Trend Micro program. It could be from email attachments from unknown senders or from websites that opens your computer to a higher risk of getting viruses as some of these sites host malicious software.

Can you tell us the last thing you do on your computer before the Trend Micro program and Windows Defender went off?
