I was eligible for the free upgrade for trend micro maximum and I downloaded it but it did not change the expiration date.

I was eligible for the free upgrade for trend micro maximum and I downloaded it but it did not change the expiration date, is there something else that I am supposed to do?  I just do not want my computer unprotected because on my last computer I had a virus overtake my computer and I am trying to make sure that does not happen again.  I am just trying to figure out what I am supposed to do.  Thank you!

Trend have exceptional tech support so I would call them and get it sorted. As similar thing happened to me a couple of years ago when I paid for an upgrade and they sorted it for me

I am hoping that someone will answer me on here.  I am currently studying in another country and am not able to make phonecalls, so I am hoping to get lucky that I can get it figured out from the computer.  Thank you for your support:)

Hi kgutherman, we invite all of our customers, who are having unexpired licenses, to upgrade to the latest version of Trend Micro Security for free. However, the free upgrade is only for your program, and it does not affect the expiration date of the license.

Regarding your question, here're two scenarios that may meet your need:
Scenario 1 - Renewing your subscription from the main console before the license expired. You can visit this page for the detailed steps: Renewing your Trend Micro program subscription

Scenario 2 - Enabling Auto-Renew via Trend Micro Account. You can log into Trend Micro Account and click the gray Auto-Renew OFF slider to apply for Auto-Renew. Here's an online article for your reference: Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about Auto-Renew
