I think I have a firewall issue

I have Family Tree Maker installed on my computer (Windows 8.1) but this program keeps saying I have no Internet connection when I try to search any ancestor.
Obviously I DO have an Internet connection because I'm here and why I think it might be a firewall issue. Can anyone help me please?

This may be an issue with the program itself or you need to add the application on your Windows Firewall exception list.

After adding it to the Windows Firewall's exception, kindly restart your computer and check if the issue has been resolved. 

If not, kindly try contacting the application's support.

Windows firewall no longer works after having 3 or 4 power outages a week or so ago, if you mean Windows Defender.
