Hello samhossler and welcome to the Community!

Thank you so much for posting your concern and sorry for the trouble. It's possible that the notification that there is a virus on the computer is a scam message and it's just a message meant to scare you while your PC is actually fine.

For us to investigate further, can you please provide us with the following information:
1. Screenshot of the message/error message.
2. Link/URL or the website address of the message.
3. Affected Web browser/s.
4. Toll free number of the Support Scam.
5. Last Visited website.
6. Last activity on the computer before getting the Scam message.

Customers usually get a pop-up message with detected threats, critical errors, security warnings, computer hacked message, registry failure and they need to contact a toll free number immediately to fix the issue. Customers also hear a background voice explaining why they are getting the message and why customers need to contact the support number specified.

Fee free to contact our support team and have the Link/URL of the scam message submitted to our Global Site Safety. Thank you!
