I have just had to re-install Trend Micro Maximum Security from scratch. It keeps on saying "Installing an update".

I'm using a Samsung R590, with windows 7 home premium, SP1, 64-bit OS. It's an Intel Core i5 cpu clocked at 2.4 GHz with 4 GB of RAM. I recently tried to install Windows 10 but failed and am back on Win 7. I had to disable Trend while I was doing the update and ended up deleting it. I have now re-installed it and have Trend Maximum Security V 15.0.1163. My problem is that every time I get it to look for updates, it downloads them OK, but then says (apparently for ever) "Installing an update...". I'm not sure if it's applied the updates or not so I'm not sure if it's up-to-date.

Any ideas what I can do?

Hi uMvemve

Welcome to Trend Micro Community!

Possible that when you reinstalled the program the components got corrupted. Kindly try to use this reinstall tool on your device,  you may refer to this link: Reinstalling the latest version of Trend Micro Security program using the Reinstall Tool

Let us how it goes.

I have done that and it worked up to the point (end of step 3) where it asked me to click OK to restart the PC. I did that and nothing much has happened for 20 minutes now. Does this mean it's failed, and if so what should I do next?

Sorry about that, uMvemve. Please do this process instead.

1. Download and install the Trend Micro Remnant File Remover Tool to completely remove any leftover Trend Micro files so that you can successfully install the latest version of your Trend Micro Security Software.

2. Next, run the Trend Micro Permission Tool that will adjusts the necessary registry key, file, and folder permissions for all Trend Micro Security software components.

3. After the restart, you can now install the Trend Micro Security.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Kim,
Unfortunately I lost patience and manually rebooted before you replied. It seemed that all of Trend had gone, so I installed it again. This time it worked, and when I looked for updates, it found them and correctly installed them. I now have version 15.0.1231, and again this morning when I checked for updates, it worked OK. I now no longer get the "Installing an update..." message.

I think I'm OK now. Thanks for your help.
