Is it possible that one of my cell phone apps has been hacked? I get a 6:30 AM alarm every day, from out of the blue, unless phone is in Safe Mode. Samsung s9 on Verizon, Android, latest update, Trend Micro mobile 9.5.2.1611

Welcome to the Home Users Community, David Anderson.

What apps do you have that has the capability of setting an alarm for your phone? It may not be hacked but, maybe, just a wrong configuration or some apps are misbehaving. Were you able to report this to your phone's manufacturer yet?

1st reply crashed. Abbrev version, I have turned off calendar permissions on any App that I don't use that way, Samsung worked on my S9 for hours, and changed the problem from Bixby briefing to the current alarm via Clock app. We have an identical phone that does not do this and deleted a bunch of apps. Almost a flip phone now.

Hi David Anderson,

If you have the patience, go through each of the apps installed. Note apps, calendar, fitness apps, mail apps, anything that may have Reminder feature. Clear cache and data of those apps. Or uninstall it one by one.
Last resort, do a factory reset. Backup your documents, files and pictures but don't restore apps and settings.
Setting your phone from default will take time but that should resolve it.

Factory Reset does fix it, but without Apps, it is a brick. Your suggestion is good though - I need a plan to find the offending app, as I know it is not a factory app, but with 60+ apps, I'll do 10 at a time, but need to clear the cache and settings of all the ones with reminders etc before resuming my task.
Will try to paste screenshot here - looks like it is ready for tomorrow!  https://www.dropbox.com/s/bu9tlt8h8s1rhls/Screenshot_20180724-075806_Clock.jpg?dl=0

Ok, Alarm is back at 6;30 AM for 7/31/18, and it showed up somewhere around 7 AM on 7/30/18. The apps I added on 7/29/18 were Instagram, Sleep IQ, MS Account Authenticator, MS Powerpoint, and Google Wifi. I have listed them in the order I suspect may be my villain. My plan is to remove them today, wait one day to assure problem is gone, then re-install 1 by 1 until the problem reappears. DJA

Sleep IQ is the App that when I add it, the Alarm triggers the next morning, and does not trigger when I remove it. One difference between my wife's phone and mine is I set the bed up with Bluetooth, and hers only communicates with the Web. Any advice?

Hi David,

Have you tried the same setting as your wife's app configuration?

Good call, I re-installed and may have found the difference. Will advise after tomorrow, around 6:35 am!
