I cannot get MicroTrend to update. It keeps saying I am not connected to the internet, which obviously, I am.

Welcome to TM Home users Community, a public site where volunteers try to help each-other , also there are TM Employees that can give answers, that is only at working hours. I am just a volunteer!
Try this,Go to the menu/other settings/Network Settings and put off Proxy.Hope that helps.

Sorry to hear this. Can you please check if it isn't caused by your internet connection? You may try to ping or browse different websites and reset your network adapter. Here's how: 
  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type Command prompt, right-click Command prompt, and then select Run as administrator > Yes.
  2. At the command prompt, type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
Try to update Trend Micro again and let us know the results. :)
