How to test Folder Shield ?

Hi,
Is there a way to test if Folder Shield is really working ?
I have installed it on one of my backup drive (installed on my motherboard, not on USB). Every night, I run a Robocopy script to mirror files from my other drives to my backup drive. After I add that drive to Folder Shield, I saw the lock icon (in Windows Explorer), but was able to run my Robocopy script without asking me if I wamt to allow it ????
I am running Windows 8.1 and I have no program listed in Exception Lists / Program/folders
Regards

Hello normand! Welcome to the community and thanks for posting here.

We understand that you wish to test if the Folder Shield is already working. Allow me to share some ideas with this.

The best way to know if the Folder shield is running is to check the icons of the protected folder if it has the Folder Shield badge on it. The Folder Shield is a very useful feature that protects your files against the Ransomware type of malware. This malware types encrypts your files and the attacker, in exchange will be asking for a certain ransom in order for you to unlock those files again.

See this link link for more details.

Using the Folder Shield feature of Trend Micro Security

I believe the RoboCopy program only copies the files that you have and in order to trigger the Folder Shield blocking, a program/threat/malware should meet a very specific criteria (this includes encryption and others).

Also, for your protection, we do not advise that you perform tests of any kinds that includes malware infection on it. Rest assured that our programs has gone through numerous tests by not only volunteers (common computer users) but as well as IT Security experts.

I hope this helps.

Thanks. I thought I had to add all programs to white list after the Folder Shield has been installed.

Hello,
In case it might help other users.
Recently, I have used a very good program to mass edit content of files that saved me a lot of time.
When I started the program, I immediately got a warning message from TrendMicro that a program is trying to edit files located within the Folder Shield protection.
So, it really does work ! :-)
Great software!
