How do I disable load of Trend Micro from within Windows 10 safe mode?

Just updated my Trend Micro (it stalled for almost a month, thinking I wasn't connected to the internet), and now I can't boot into Windows 10 at all. Testing the boot process, I found the last driver loaded was one the the TrendMicro ones (tmeevw.sys), so I think that's TM is causing the problem. How do I disable Load on Startup when booting from Windows safe mode? I can't open the Trend control panel at all in safe mode, so I can't go in there and turn it off.

Hello carynb68

Thank you for posting here and welcome to the Community!

As for your concern, we do have an option to uninstall the Trend Micro software from Safe Mode so that we can confirm if it is the one causing the issue.

Since you are able to open your computer in Safe Mode, please boot your computer to that. When you are in Safe Mode already, press on Windows Button + R then type in supporttool.exe and press enter. The Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit window should open. In there, go to Uninstall tab > Uninstall Software.

Another way to open the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit is to go to this location Start > All Apps > Trend Micro Security > Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit and uninstall from there.

When you have uninstalled the Trend Micro software, try to boot in normal mode then reinstall the software from there. You can refer to the link below on how to do that.

We'll wait for your update. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Thanks, that allowed me to uninstall TrendMicro, and my system can boot cleanly.   I've re-installed TrendMicro and can still boot cleanly, so it looks like my problem has been fixed.  Thanks!
