Every time the antivirus deletes a file, all my hidden folders become visible. How do I stop this?

Hi @c.s.swensson, we totally understand your frustration.

After Trend Micro Security has detected or cleaned/removed a malware, the following situations might happen:
  1. Internet Explorer home page has been changed to About:Blank.
  2. Default uncheck "Show hidden files and folders" setting has been changed.
  3. Screen saver is not running.
  4. Desktop background (wallpaper) has been changed.
To answer your question, as the above mentioned, Trend Micro Security takes these temporal actions to avoid you getting the infection again. After performing a full scan to make sure there are no threats on your computer, you can change the setting back.

You can follow the steps below to hide hidden folders Setting:
  1. Click Start > My Computer.
  2. Click Tools, then select Folder Options from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click the View tab.
  4. Untick Show hidden files and folders under Hidden files and folders.
  5. Click OK.
By the way, this changing should not happen every time. It depends on what kind of malware you've gotten.

Please let me know if you have more concerns or questions by replying here. Thank you.

As I posted before, upon a mild to severe detection Trend would assume that certain PC parameters were changed by infection and would automatically reset them to default:

1. Windows update will be set to "Automatic update"

2. UAC will be set to "Default"

3. Files and folders visibility will be change to "visible" (even though the default is "invisible"

3. Home page in IE will be change to "blank"

Hi @Claudiu, thanks for your reply.

For these detection behaviors you mentioned, again, we've already passed your suggestions to the related team. Once we received a feedback, we'll let you know.
