Hello terry.john.kimberley,

Sorry to hear about this.

We just want to know how were you able to say that the file that you would like to scan is getting skipped.

To explain how the scan works, if the single file that you would like to scan is 3 GB, it does not mean that the scan will take long. The scan will take long if there are multiple files being scanned at the same time.

In addition to this, Trend Micro Security has a feature called the Journal Scan. Journal Scan will skip all unmodified files that were already scanned within the last 24 hours.

We'll wait for you reply about your observation.

Regards,
Pat
Hi Again, Thanks for the reply.

When I right  click on a file to give me the option to perform a security scan on it. If it is over 3Gb it returns in a flash with the message

No Threats found
--------------------------------------------------
Files scanned 0
Threats resolved 0
--------------------------------------------------

If I then scan a file right next to that one but a file less than 3GB in size it shows

No Threats found
--------------------------------------------------
Files Scanned 1
Threats resolved 0
--------------------------------------------------

All the files in question are scanned regularly, and the behaviour of the scan Option should still show the Files Scanned count as 1 when a single file is selected. as all these files are under the same scanning regimen.

The interesting aspect of this issue is that if i select any file under 3GB it shows
Files Scanned 1 , even if i scan the same file 5 times in a row, it always shows Files Scanned 1
however If I select any file over 3GB (Or there abouts) it always shows Files Scanned 0

Regards
Terry

Hi terry.john.kimberley,

Can you verify the validity of the files above 3GB in size if it's corrupted or not? It could be one reason why it is being skipped by the security scan. In addition to this, you may try to add permission to each file to see if that will make any difference.

Regards,
Pat
Hi TM_Pat
The permissions are the same on all files and the files are definitely not corrupt.

Hi terry.john.kimberley   TM_Pat, Official Rep

I think Pat misunderstood the question.
1  What is the maximum file size TM can scan? (cant find it on any site)
2  Where or how can i test a file that has a size above ...Gb

Kind regards,
Tom

Hi Tom,

I may have missed the point. But the thing is, scan is not dependent with the file size. That may be the reason why I did not mention it.

Thanks for your input! ^_^

Pat

Hi TM_Pat, Official Rep

Sorry again but a file size above ... Gb would not scan and it takes fraction of a second to come up with:

No Threats found
--------------------------------------------------
Files scanned 0
Threats resolved 0
--------------------------------------------------
Just as terry.john.kimberley
In his question try to tell you!
If you want i make a film about it!

Kind regards,
Tom

-I'm not a Trend Micro representative-

Are you trying scanning a large .zip file or not a zipped one?

Hello terry.john.kimberley,

Hi Tom and Max, thanks for helping out.

I will run some test here in my end, so we can check if it's the file size that is affecting the scan, but for now, may I know the file type/extension and if it happens to other files with the same size?

I will get back to you with the maximum size the Trend Micro Security can scan.

Thanks, <Kree>
