Does Trend Micro Maximum Security detect and remove the Mirai botnet malware?

I use Trend Micro Maximum Security on Windows based PCs and laptops in my home, as well as Trend Micro Mobile Security on my Android devices. Given the recent (October 21, 2016) DDoS attack on DYN, do your products detect, prevent and remove the Mirai botnet malware?

Also, how effective is it against root-kit infections and how would I know if any of my devices are infected?

Hi Amir, thanks for your reply!

Hi, Mirai (identified by Trend Micro as ELF_GAFGYT), discovered in early August, targets both Linux servers and IoT devices, e.g. online consumer devices such as remote cameras and home routers. Mainly DVRs running Linux-based firmware to use infected systems as botnets to launch DDoS attacks.

Currently, Mirai has no effect on computers and mobile devices, and your Trend Micro Maximum Security will detect most of the malware. However, as Amir's suggestion, make sure the software installed on your computer are up-to-date as malware authors will always find a way to abuse software vulnerability.
