On trying to download a version update to my long used FreeFileSync Trend declare it a risk and deleted the update. I took to option to have Trend review this but no response or change has occurred. Can this be sorted or do I need to find new sync software?

Hi @Mick Murphy and welcome to our community.

Apologies for this issue that our program is causing on your FreeFileSync software.

To prevent Trend Micro from blocking the updates to be downloaded for this software, you may add it to the Trend Micro Exception List. Please click the link below for instructions:

Configuring the Exception List of Trend Micro Security software

We hope this resolves this issue. Thank you and have a great day! :)

Hi,

I do not think you can add the update to the "ignore list" because the update doesn't have a location.

What I would do:

1. Disable Trend micro

2. Download the update and update whatever program you have

3. Add the updated  program to the exception list

4. Re-enable Trend Micro

Hi, @claudiu_botezatu!

Thank you for the solution you provided!

We don't recommend to disable the Trend Micro program since this will remove the protection form your computer. However, this option works in certain cases.

In relation to @Mick Murphy's inquiry, we also recommend the following solution as an alternative:

1. Add FreeFileSync to Trend Micro's exception list using the link below:

Configuring the Exception List of Trend Micro Security software

2. Download the updates for FreeFileSync.

FreeFileSync should not  be detected at this stage.

Please let us know if the above solutions worked.

Have a great day!

How can you add an "update" to the exception list as long as doesn't have a physical location????

What do I browse???? The website is not the same thing with the update you download.

Hello claudiu_botezatu and thank you for the quick response.

You can add the entire folder of the FreeFileSync that is located on the Program Files or Program Files (x86). Once you have done this please check if the Trend Micro program will still block the updates.

I hope this would help resolve your concern, we will wait for your reply once you have done adding the entire folder on the exception list of the Trend Micro program.

Thank you!

Thank you to those who replied. As TM_JustineM suggested I put FreeFileSinc directory in the exception list but this does not solve the problem as Titanium deletes the download from Downloads folder as soon as the download is complete and before you can execute the update program. I've found another sync program which seems to work ok  and does not include adware. I am now uninstalling Freefilesync. I do appreciate the efforts of all. Thanks
