Data Theft Prevention Headache

Since the last update I am unable to log in to any of my accounts unless I first disable Data Theft Prevention (DTP). Even on HTTPS sites. Even though I use Trend Micro Password Manager. Your own password manager can't circumvent the problem. And I can't believe that the advice you are giving in other post is to temporarily disable DTP, even though it works. That is not a valid solution because it defeats the whole purpose for having DTP. This is a serious issue and it needs to be addressed. I had to turn DTP to log in and post this.

Hello maboyd and welcome to the community.

Apologies for the inconvenience that you experience. The disabling of the Data Theft Prevention feature is the very last step that is given in cases wherein the initial solution did not work. The "Transfer of Protected Data Blocked" popup appears whenever somebody uses the information saved under the Data Theft Prevention feature. There was an improvement in our Data Theft Prevention on our latest version wherein it can now protect these data even in HTTPS websites for better security. The purpose of that feature is to not allow other user to use your information without your permission. To help with this particular popup that you are getting you can click on this link and carefully follow the steps.

“Transfer of Protected Data Blocked” error message appears when visiting web pages

I hope this helps. Let us know the result.

Thank you and have a great week!

Please read my post carefully. I am not complaining about the popup. The problem is not being able to log in anywhere. Even though I use Trend Micro Password Manager to try and log in.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Data Theft Prevention Headache Part Two.

In my previous post I received a standard response regarding the pop up message. My post had nothing to do about the popup. Please read this carefully so that your response actually addresses my post.

I use Trend Micro Password Manager to log into everything. However, this is no longer possible. Password Manager is blocked from signing into any of my accounts by Data Theft Prevention. Your security suite is blocking your password manager. If you can't fix this I will have to find a new security provider. I will not turn off my security every time i need to sign in to an account.

Hi maboyd,

We have merged this thread because this is in relation to your original post. This is to continue resolving your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems logging in to your accounts. May I please know if you put your passwords or any other login info like usernames into your Data Theft Prevention list?

Because if yes, we suggest for you to reconfigure your Data Theft Prevention list by deleting information related to your sign-in details.

Please let us know if it worked.
