Hi brucedonelson
Welcome to TM Home users Community, a public site where volunteers try to help each-other , also there are TM Employees that can give answers, that is only at working hours. I am just a volunteer!
What you mean with "Data Security" off.
Do you mean that the gmail site wont open?
Is the TM Toolbar on in Chrome?
Can you provide more info, maybe screenshots?
Kind regards,
Tom

Hi brucedonelson,
When you say "Data security (ransomware protection)", are you referring to Folder Shield feature of our program?
Can you please explain the issue further?
Regards,
Joemar

Yes, you refer to it as Folder Shield. When activated, Gmail would appear ready to load, the progress bar would go across, but it would never open. This worked the same in Edge and Chrome. And the TM toolbar was not installed on either browser. After turning off Folder Shield, Gmail worked normally again. This is a Windows 10 environment.

Hi brucedonelson
Is Chrome.exe in a protected folder if Folder protection is on?
This is normally impossible, so tell me how you did that?
Kind regards,
Tom

Hi brucedonelson,
Folder Shield doesn't work on Gmail. Folder Shield is a Trend Micro feature to protect you from ransomware infection.
Have you checked if it is an internet connection issue?

Joemar

At first I thought it might be an internet connection issue, because it is sometimes funky out here in the sticks. But every other part of both browsers continued to work. And no, neither browser was in a protected folder.

Gmail is working fine now, in both browsers. Strange though, as I think I had only indicated subfolders of C:/users, (like QBDataServiceUser27, which has some Quickbooks data.)
Thanks
