Can't uninstall system mechanic.

It's annoying enough that I have to install a program I use regularly to let trend micro update but now system mechanic won't uninstall.  I get a message saying a file is open somewhere though I can't find it.  Is there a way to remove the program completely other than uninstall?  I have an hp phoenix envy running windows 10 and I just updated (or tried) to trend maximum security.

Hello there mfehrs ! Welcome to the community.

We understand that you are having troubles with another Antivirus Program installed on your computer. Allow me to help you with this.

Running 2 Security software on your computer is not advisable as they may use the same resources of your computer. This will lead to conflicts with these process rendering them both unable to perform their tasks effectively as expected. This is why we recommend to our users to remove other Antivirus Programs and/or other conflicting software before installing the Trend Micro program (or doing a version Upgrade).

Further more, I have managed to check a way on how to remove the System Mechanic thoroughly through their website. Take note that this is a third party website and is not related to Trend Micro. We would still advise that you contact System Mechanic's developers or support for more help.

How to perform a thorough uninstall of System Mechanic Professional

Hope this helps.

Sorry, but the uninstall link above didn't work for me either (PS: it is the same link that Iolo gave me). I can regedit, but can't even see the SYstem Mechanic program to uninstall in the first place.

Hi dfude1,

Since you are able to check on the registry, can I ask you if you have seen any folders related to "IOLO"? That folder is for system mechanic as informed by the guide.

May I know if you have tried to delete that folder in the registry?

If not, please create a backup first of the registry then delete the folder "IOLO".

I am sorry, but the "uninstall" link info above is the same info I just received from System Mechanic and just doesn't work. I have never seen an obviously installed (and running) program not show up as an installed program via the control panel. I can find the program in the C;/program files (x86) folder, along with an uninstall.bat, but even that does not work. If Trend does not fix this soon, I will uninstall Trend and keep System Mechanic.
