Bundle updates

I appreciate TM's devotion to maintaining up-to-date protection, but MUST there be another, uncontrollable micro-update every 10-20 mins or so, all day, every day? While brief, each one completely stalls both browser and system function for up to several seconds (and I don't have a slow setup -- 8G quad-core CPU and ~60 mbs network on a Win10 Asus), and the sheer aggravation causes me to keep uninstalling the stupid software after a few days, try a more expensive brand, and find that one to be just as problematic for its own reasons. A manually approved, bundled update every 12 or 24 hours would be much, much easier. Thank you.

Hi greytrek24,

Welcome to TM Home users Community, a public site where volunteers try to help each-other , also there are TM Employees that can give answers.
The TM update is 1 in 3 hours and i never notice a slowdown while browsing and got a update.
So where are you talking about???
I think there is a other thing going on!
If it is TM, can you take a screenshot if it happens from the Task manager and the TM program that has the high CPU use!
Here from you,

kind regards,

Hello greytrek24 ! Welcome to the community and thanks for posting here.

We understand that you are having troubles with the Trend Micro program's constant update check. Unfortunately, the Trend Micro program is designed to do a real time scan and an update check every 3 hours so our program can update and add patterns for new and incoming threats present on the web.

This is to keep your computer safe and for our system to keep up with the threats. While we are utilizing layered protection, we just wanted to let our programs now on how a certain threat behaves by those times.

We really do apologize for the inconvenience as this feature/behavior is within the Trend Micro program's design and we do not have an existing method in modifying or disabling the delays for the updates but, we will take this idea as a feedback and we will let our developing team know about this matter.

All the best,

Hi, Tom (and thank you, Kiko) --

Sorry for the delayed response (I had 2nd shift yesterday).

Taking a screenshot of the task manager is a good suggestion, but the stalls in question prevent services from loading until they pass. What I do know is, 1) the recurring brief seizures only show up while TM is installed, and 2) as they subside, I can do either of two things with guaranteed result: load the task manager (after the fact) and find TM at the top of the disk use pile, or do a manual check for updates and find one installing. In fact, I've gotten into the habit of trying to stave off the problem by starting manual update checks both before and after tasks, and find small updates queued up as often as every few minutes, especially in daytime. I'm not computer illiterate, but I've been able to isolate no other cause for these occurrences.

Thanks for the feedback!

Hello greytrek24,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Here are the other possible reasons that we can consider why your connection is slowing down when the Trend Micro program is enabled.

For the new version, all features and functions of the program was enhanced, this includes the Network and Internet monitoring. The Trend Micro program is protecting you in a real time basis when you are surfing the web using your computer. There might be a point wherein the network traffic is quite big that keeps the Trend Micro program busy and consumes some of the bandwidth.

If you wish to check the issue further, you can contact us for better assistance. Just let us know so we can provide the contact details to you.

All the best,
