I am suddenly getting messages that TM has been turned off and needs to be turned on again; I have taken no action to close the program, so why should it be closing on its own?

We're suddenly getting that today on a couple of PCs. A dodgy update maybe?

A clean reinstall fixed it for us

@webteam  Thank you for helping! Glad to know your Trend Micro Security works well after reinstalled.

@sjhimel  Thank you for informing us of this issue. I'm afraid that malfunction of your Internet Security could be due to a number of different factors. We suggest that you can delete the temporary files and perform a update manually. Please follow the steps below to do so:

  1. Open the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit by doing either of the following:
    Go to Start > All Programs > Trend Micro (program version) Security > Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit.
    Go to Start > My Computer > Local Disk C: or OS C: > Program Files > Trend Micro > Titanium > SupportTool.exe
  2. Click the (C) Uninstall tab
  3. Click 5. Stop all components
  4. Click 2. Delete Now
  5. Click 3. Delete Now
  6. Click 4. Start all Components and close the Trend Micro Diagnostic Toolkit window.
  7. Open the Internet Security main console.
  8. Click ? and click About to check for updates.

If the update still cannot be completed, as @webteam mentioned, a re-install is a good way to make sure everything is reset.
