Since installing on my fast i7/32gb ram Alienware laptop web browsing and general operation is slow and everything stutters. I have checked the list of incompatible software and none of them are installed. Web pages hang for a very long time before loading and as soon as I disable protection everything instantly FLIES.

What can I do to try and resolve this problem?

Thanks
Gary

Thanks for using our product! Regarding your performance issue, could you please double check the list in the following online doc to make sure conflict software are all removed? I understand you've done this check already, and that our competitor products have been removed, but sometimes software in the "Others" list might still be present on your PC. It's a long list, so it'll take some time to cross check.

Programs to remove before installing Trend Micro Security (see the "List Of Programs To Remove" section, and "Others" list)

Also, the slow performance could be due to  background internet traffic from programs that you've installed unknowingly. These programs, commonly called potentially unwanted applications (PUA), are typically bundled with other freeware, and installed as an option most people do not uncheck during installation. Please try the following online solution doc to check and remove any PUAs on your computer:

Uninstalling Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA)

Please let us know if these solutions works for you, and we'll assist you further if the issue continues. Thank you!

Thanks for your reply. I looked through the list again today and I am not running any of the software listed.

Is there some logging I can turn on so we can capture why it's so slow, especially when web browsing? I do notice it runs slower in my office which is behind a proxy server. Could that contribute to the cause?

Could it be scanning network drives in the background? Can network scanning be turned off (if it's on)? All our servers run their own anti-virus so my laptop doesn't need to scan them as well. any other suggestions gratefully accepted.

Regards
Gary

Thanks for the information -- this really help us to understand the background! For your questions, please check the answers below:

Is there some logging I can turn on so we can capture why it's so slow, especially when web browsing?
> Yes, there is. However, it is an internal debug log that can be understood by our product development team.

I do notice it runs slower in my office which is behind a proxy server. Could that contribute to the cause?
> Yes, running behind a proxy server might causes lower performance since we frequently access our cloud database for malware patterns.

Could it be scanning network drives in the background? Can network scanning be turned off (if it's on)?
> The Real Time Scan feature will only scan local drives or display direct-attached storage but not network-attached storage.

Just to confirm -- your laptop is already running slow without the proxy server, right?

We do have a Performance Tuning Tool that helps to identify resource-consuming apps and processes, and helps to add them to Trend Micro Security's Exception List:
Resolving performance issues using the Trend Micro Performance Tuning Tool

Please let us know if above solution helps at all. If not, we'll help you pass your case to our support center, which is equipped with tools to inspect deeper into your laptop environment. Thanks!
