after 1 hr trend is still scanning. Time for new virus protection company. Can't stop or pause this damn scan.

Right click start then Run, type "Supporttool"/returnNow you got diagnostic tool kit Click "C" then 5, wait that buttons come back, then click 4Hope this helps.

Sorry to hear about the problem, you can try Tom Emmelot suggestion. 
If in case, it did not resolve the problem, can you please let me know the percentage of the scan where it gets stuck and the file it was scanning?

1h is not too much time if it is a large and full disk and you are running a complete scan. :)
Other AV solutions will be not faster...
