Unable to send Emails

Trend Micro has been reinstalled on my desktop, I can receive emails in my mailbox (Mozilla Thunderbird) but am unable to send. Error message is "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.optusnet.com.au timed out. Try again". What do I need to do to fix?
