Unable to contact to Trend Micro

When open the app, it shows this

and then I try to click UPDATE but it still tells me Unable to contact to Trend Micro. I'm sure I'm connected to internet.

I have checked the version and used all the methods provided in community and help. However the error still exists.

Hi 2979690887,

Welcome to Trend Micro Home Users Community!

This usually happens when the Trend Micro program cannot connect to the Trend Micro server to get the latest updates.

Please try to follow Flush the DNS and Reset the Winsock Catalog from this link, and try to update Trend Micro again:

Let us know how it goes.

@saccharine_ching I removed the software and then installed as instructed, but the problem was displayed again two days later.

Thank you for updating us, free.

Can you try to follow the steps on this link below:

Fix "Unable to contact Trend Micro" error on Windows

If the issue is still the same, please try to follow these steps below:

  • Reset Winsock
    1. On your keyboard, press the Windows Windows Key + R keys to open the Run window.
    2. In the Open field, type cmd, then press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER. The Administrator: Command Prompt window will open.
    3. Type netsh winsock reset, and then hit ENTER.
    4. Wait for the Command Prompt to run through the reset. Once it’s complete, you’ll see the message Winsock reset completed successfully.
    5. Restart the computer.
    6. Check for program updates.
