Here's a workaround you can try shared by @hmozart, a Community member:
Right-click the Trend Micro icon from the taskbar.
Select Check for Program Updates and it should go back to normal.
If the issue persists, you may try to reinstall the program.

I have the same issue. Every time I start my computer it takes forever for it to go through the TrendMicro process. Very frustrating!

Don't worry, TM is aware and working on a solution. In maximum 6-8 months a patch will be available.
meanwhile TM_kree is educating us about "modern parenting"......
