Not automatically updating after turning on the PC
I actually hate that it does not update as soon as you start the program. I too have a laptop that I notice stays out of date on definitions because I turn it on for 5 min or so once every couple weeks.

TM provided me with registry key modification , so I can adjust the delay to 1 min only.
Address: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\UniClient\0\Scheduler\VizorUpdateTask_1
Key: Delay
Value: 180
value:180 is for 3 min if you want. I put mine 60 (1 min)
