Hi danjd53,

Welcome to Trend Micro Community.

To help you with your concern, I would like to ask further description and explanation of the symptoms you are experiencing. Please let us know what happened and on what part did you encounter the problem.

May I ask what is taking too long to load on your Google Chrome? Also, why did you say that the proxy server did not receive a timely response from the upstream server because of Trend Micro?

Awaiting for your response.

@tm_lila mine too over 2 hours to 'start protection' yesterday, did a remote session and apparently it was fixed, tried again today, same issue then another remote session and just now half an hour to 'start protection'.  This is November 2022, what is the problem ?  New laptop, only took like a minute before the last update now having issues over the past 2 weeks

Hello1 Lila, the proxy server came up when I tried to troubleshoot the Trend miro, as to why it takes so long to load my protection at start-up in crome. So yes the problem is when at start-up trend miro takes to long to start, anywhere from 2 to three minutes to load my protection. it's always been like this when you switch from the other version of protection. I don't think Tren miro is causing the problem it's just taking so long to startup.

Hi danjd53,

Kindly try disabling unfamiliar startups and observe if the same problem occurs. You may also try clearing browser history as you mentioned that your Chrome is loading slow.

Let me know how it goes.

May I just verify if you are referring to Trend Micro toolbar loading slow in your Chrome?

Thanks for your response Kath, Chrome seems to be loading ok I've had already clear my browser history, did a system restore it's still taking to long to load. I  tried running Trend Miro as an administrator to see if that would help but no. My FaceBook is also taking to long to run everything else, is loading Ok. etc. e-mail banking u-tube

Hi danjd53,

Have you tried to disable some startup apps as suggested by Kath?

If you're using Windows 7 here's how to do it:
  1. Press the Windows Key & R. In the run window, type msconfig and press Enter.
  2. Click the Startup tab.
  3. Uncheck the items you do not want to launch on startup.
  4. Click OK when done.
If you're using Windows 10 here's how to do it:
  1. Open your Task Manager. (Right-click on the Windows logo on the bottom left of the screen)
  2. Click the Startup tab.
  3. Uncheck the items you do not want to launch on startup.
  4. Click OK when done.
Try to also check your Programs & Features for any programs you no longer use to free up space and to check for any potentially unwanted programs.

Mine took over 2 hours to 'start protection' yesterday.  I've been having problems for the past 2 weeks and today again the 3rd remote to my pc and apparently all fixed.  I rebooted my new laptop that only takes a minute to boot up, but still waiting half an hour for protection to start... why is this happening ?

We updated Windows, uninstalled and reinstalled TM and yes, it worked initially until I did the update that was available and now I'm still having the same problems

What is going on ?  Never had a problem in the past like 10 years until now
