May we know the instructions that you have followed on this link?  
Fix Outlook.com email sync issues.

Do you remember the previous activities you made before encountering this issue? Also, can you check if there are unusual programs/ apps that have been recently installed on your computer which you are unfamiliar with?

How about the pst file? it is missing also? you can always recover everything from outlook by reloading/ importing your pst file.

Can you also verify if this is only happening on your Outlook program? you may login and check on your Outlook webmail if your emails are there.

I did that there is nothing there.  I use outlook to import my earthlink account and once it's downloaded to through earthlink it should stay on my desktop...but it was all gone

May I know if you have tried to add your Earthlink account to your Outlook? Would it be okay for you to click and follow the instruction on the link below?

I thanks for the reply.  I have used the outlook portal on my desktop for years.  The emails go first to the earthlink account and once I open my outlook they are all downloaded to outllok.  I had 1200+ emails and some other pix stored on my outlook email.  Then one day I went to open the outlook and the account no longer existed. I have since found a skype account on my desktop that was no installed by me and had access by someone named Keith.  I believe he accessed my account or I was hacked with a ransom ware that I was unware of .   I have looked on the outlook account itself and nothing comes through that.  I am in the process of transferring all earthlink mail to gmail.  I have also thought about just using outlook I am not sure which one is more secure.  Any help on that?  I think that the info was wiped clean even though I run the trend I have since changed all passwords and hope that works.

May we know if you could access your Earthlink account? Also, please check if you still have the messages in your inbox. 

If you could still access and see your messages, please create a new profile on your Outlook then try to import again your messages and wait for it to sync with your account.
