Does Trend Micro is aware of this particular threat and detects it

APT 10 group/ Cicada has been affecting devices using a malicious dll file of VLC media player.

https://symantec-enterprise-blogs.security.com/blogs/threat-intelligence/cicada-apt10-china-ngo-government-attacks

I provided the link of Symantecs for details. Does Trend Micro for sure detects it and identifies it as threat. Trend Micro news section covers Scam news mostly but it should introduce threat based news. Please confirm me that Trend Micro is aware of this threat in particular as it is affecting India also and I had used VLC in the past.

Please introduce a news section similar to Broadcom's Protection Bulletins by Symantecs. Also please let me know via email that this threat is known to the Trend Micro and it can detect it. I will be waiting for the reply and please let me know about this. Also introduce a threat news section which covers name of threats, their description, attack methods, detection names and with month and date

Hi, claudiubotezatu

I`m sorry about that. You are right, there are thousands of threats created every minute. And we cannot block every single one of them. Further to @The_Eagle_007 post, I would like to add if the Trend Micro team can add a real time threat detection map like bitdefender (http://threatmap.bitdefender.com/) and have a separate security blog website/page like ESET's (https://welivesecurity.com/).

Is a new version of TM Maximum security available or will be released anytime soon?

I would also like if the pop up notifications can disappear after 5/10 seconds automatically without the need of pressing the OK button. Sometimes multiple notifications appear and these need to be manually closed which is quite annoying. Hope the development team can work on an automated disappear of notifications.

@muhammadnabeelmansoor threat maps are not of much use and are not very accurate in my opinion. Search for Broadcom's Protection Bulletins by Symantecs. This provides useful threat related information and no other AV companies provide such news section.

Also Trend Micro team has replied to me via email to my open case that they are aware of APT 10 and using of VLC to deliver malicious payloads to the user computer.

@muhammadnabeelmansoor it is made available via updates every month. Search for Trend Micro new update you may find the new version like August 2022 with version numbers and information about what has been fixed in the new version.
