Unknown callers are automatically blocked. How to remove this?

Tech at TrendMicro wanted $299.99 to fix this problem after getting remote access to my laptop. I was suspicious and said no. I still have the problem with missed calls on my phone and don’t know how to get help now

Hi @vpolkingbb,

Welcome to Trend Micro Home Users Community!

Please take note that steps may vary depending on the type or model of the phone you have but the general steps will be the same.

On your home screen, tap the phone icon or call settings. Go to Settings then select Blocked numbers. From the options, switch off the toggle button where it shows Block unknown calls or Block calls from unidentified callers.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.  I found the setting to silence unknown callers, and turned it off.  I'd still like to know why my call was diverted to some third party tech support person who gained remote access to my laptop and then told me I needed to "make a one off payment of $299,99  to rid my laptop of malware".  I thought I was talking to someone from Trend Micro.  I had just automatically renewed my subscription for $190 and thought I was getting customer support.

@vpolkingbb,

Glad to know it worked.

Regarding your concern about the third party tech support, I would like to inform you that it is a type of scam. Technical Support Scam is the act of taking advantage of concerns about virus and other threats to gain money. Scammers perform unsolicited phone calls or use false advertisements to gain control of the computer.

Hope I was able to address your concern.

@tm_klariz Yes I was afraid that was the case.  Do you think I should take any further action regarding security on my laptop?  The scammer had remote access to it for some time
