Issue with VPN on iOS 15.

I have noticed there is a significant performance drop when using the VPN feature in Trend Micro.  Websites load much slower than without VPN. 

Is there a resolution to this issue or can I enable parental controls without VPN?

Hi, @dolreichsalins

 

We would like to inform you that VPN or the Web Guard, like any other VPN, plays as an intermediate proxy between your device and the destination content in which when enabling Web Guard, your internet speed will be affected both by the VPN servers and your network status.
You can try switching on a different network.

May I know if you're referring to our Trend Micro WiFi Protection?

 

If it is, it should not reduce your device performance, as it is compatible with your device. Also, make sure that you don't have any application that can cause conflict like other VPN software for Trend Micro Wi-Fi protection to work properly.

 

Also, please provide us the following information:

 

1. Trend Micro version
2. Are you using a Wi-fi or mobile data?

I’m using Trend Micro mobile security 9.6.1149 for iOS.

I am using Wi-Fi and the issue occurs when Web Guard is turned on. When Web Guard is turned on, VPN is turned on as well. With Web Guard is turned on, the performance drops significantly. I have no other applications running in the background other than the Safari browser.

May I know how many VPN configurations can you see on your device? Kindly follow the instructions below to identify it.

 

1. Launch Settings.

2. Tap General.

3. Go to VPN & Device Management .

4. Check how many VPN configurations are listed.

5. Delete any duplicate or any extra VPN configurations.

 

If it's still the same after deleting extra VPN Configurations. Kindly reinstall the product and check if the issue is still there.

As you had suggested, I deleted the Trend Micro Mobile Security application and re-installed it.

I do not have another VPN connection. Under device management, the only VPN connection is Trend Micro’s Web Guard Protection mobile security.

The difference in speed between using no Web Guard Protection and using Trend Micro’s Web Guard Protection is approximately 6 Mbps. It is approximately 6 Mbps slower using Trend Micro’s Web Guard Protection. I used the Ookla speed test to check the speed.

When using Safari, web pages take longer to load when using Web Guard Protection. 

I did the speed test on both my iPhone and my iPad, and got similar results.

Appreciate any assistance you can provide to resolve the issue.
