Trend Micro AntiVirus quits unexpectedly

Just installed Trend Micro Premium Security Suite on macOS Ventura.  Every time I attempt to scan, the program quits with an error: "AFMMainUI quit unexpectedly".  

Anyone else experienced this?  Any solutions out there?

We are already aware of this issue and now have a hotfix for this issue. Kindly please follow the steps below:

  1. Download the file below, then extract and run it.
    App crash in Mac OS hotfix
  2. Restart the macOS.
  3. Open the Main console and monitor the issue for a few minutes and check if the issue persists.

Let us know here the result.

We'll also appreciate it if you can provide us with the following:

  1. Mac OS Version
  2. Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac build version

I am getting the same error: AFMMainUI quit unexpectedly

I tried your solution including downloading the hotfix. But when I try to open the hotfix file, my Mac responds with "You can’t open the application “iTIS_115_mac_AFMMainUI_hfb.app” because it may be damaged or incomplete."

I tried downloading and opening this file twice, and both times, I got this error.

My machine is a 2022 MacBook Air M2 with 16 GB Ram.

I am running Mac OSX version: 12.6.1 (21G217) (Monterey).

Please advise.

You need to upgrade your Trend Micro Security for Mac to version 11.5.

I'm also experiencing the same issue with the "AFMMainUI quit unexpectedly" error.  My version of Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac is 11.5.1318 and I still receive the "You can’t open the application “iTIS_115_mac_AFMMainUI_hfb” because it may be damaged or incomplete." message when trying to open the hotfix file. My Mac OS version is Ventura 13.0.1. Please advise.  Thank you.

Can you please verify if the hotfix was properly opened? Here's the proper way to open it:

  1. Click the button below to download the hotfix:

    Download Hotfix

  2. Click iTIS_115_mac_AFMMainUI_hfb.app.zip to extract the hotfix.
  3. Click iTIS_115_mac_AFMMainUI_hfb.app to run the file.
  4. Follow the prompts to install the hotfix.
  5. Restart your Mac to apply the changes.

I was able to install the hotfix file this time.  Not sure why the installation was not successful before.  And Trend Micro Antivirus seems to be working fine now.  Thank you so much!!
